Summary/Objective
Asset Protection Unit (APU) seeks an experienced software developer to join our team. APU is growing rapidly, and we look for engaged, enthusiastic, and excited folks to become an integral part of our team.
As a software developer at APU, you will be getting in on the ground floor of a brand-new implementation, creating software to support our operations. You’ll get to directly see the impact of your projects, be empowered to understand the everyday needs of users and make decisions that deliver real business value. What problems will you solve?
Under the direction of the Director of Development you will be working, largely autonomously, to deliver software critical to the daily operations of the business. You will introduce automations at key points in the business workflow to increase operations efficiency. There will be a wide variety of opportunities, from data mining, all the way up to front-end presentation. You will also help frame our development and change management practices to create a world class development environment.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a seasoned developer who can provide technical expertise in both our data-mining operations and in development of new line of business software to improve operational efficiency. We are searching for someone who can take a new dataset, understand all of its components, and derive business meaning. We also want someone who can analyze business workflows, visualize software-based solutions to improve operating efficiency. All the while, keeping in mind business objectives.
We are looking for experience in C#, Java, or a similar object-oriented language. Experience in SAS, SQL, and ETL tools or with experience using another stack (Python, R, etc.) to analyze large datasets is also preferred. As a small development shop we are in need of someone who has broad experience including some project management duties. Duties such as gathering requirements, clarifying user expectations, communicating with management and stakeholders, and recognizing opportunities for improvement.
Essential Functions
· Utilize existing expertise to develop line-of-business applications, and revenue generating data-mining opportunities
· Be able to interview users to find requirements for programming, document and execute on those requirements
· Recognize architectural improvements needed to improve APU Programming
· Perform any programming or data related task independently and efficiently
· Think strategically about existing or conceptual opportunities
· Mentor other programming staff
· Provide direction to other programming staff
· Communicate clearly with C-Level executives

Required Education and Experience
We expect this candidate to be able to self-learn and gather the right information to make informed decisions. APU will train the right candidate in the specific duties of the position, but the person must be able to take the initiative without being told what to do. A skills test will be required.
· College degree or work equivalent
· At least 5 Years of Programming experience
· Object-Oriented Programming experience
· SQL / database development experience

Eligibility Qualifications

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position requires 40 hours per week with some time outside of the normal hours.
